It looks like they’re integrating Google Places with Organic Google.  It may be a mainstay at this point.  No one is sure.

In some instances, this is greatly benefiting some of my clients who are ranking #1 or #2 in Google.  The reason being is that, in some cases, the #1 or #2 spot is actually OVER the Google Places listings.  So this is really cool in some cases.

But if you happen to be #3 in Organic Google, you’re all the way at the bottom of the page…not so cool.

In some instances, like my city, the Google search hasn’t really changed at all.

The one thing that remains:

1.  SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is now more important than ever!

2.  Google Places listings are now more important than ever!

I highly recommend you do both!

Get links coming in to your site.  And get reviews for your Google Places profile.  Work on these two things and you can’t go wrong.

Remember, Google won’t fall in love with your site and make it rank well just because it’s pretty.  You have to market your site for Google to love it.

So get out and DO SOMETHING, NOW!
