Postcard Marketing (I need your opinion)

By Hitman | December 20, 2010

It just hit me the year is almost over.

It’s so easy to get caught up in work and forget to plan your advertising.

I just have one quick question for you…

Next year…

For your cleaning biz…if you could mail the ultimate client attracting postcard, what would it be about?

What offer would it have?

What core message would the postcard state?

I’d love to get your opinion.

In fact, I’m giving away a FREE advertising package to whoever gives me the best answer.

Give your opinion by clicking here.

Until later,

John Braun

P.S.  For a short time, you can download the report on “How any cleaning company can double their biz with postcards,” it’s posted on my blog.

(Report is now only available in the Postcards and More package below)

P.P.S.  Here’s the direct link for the NEW postcard ad package

    John,
I would want to keep sending cards that give solutions for dirty carpet and furniture, addressing pet concerns, rugs, etc. I would offer something free with X something elses – a free rug with two cleaned, a free room with 5 cleaned. My challenge is finding good graphics for stop you in your tracks cute and funny artwork.

    Hi John,
I think the message and the offer should be dictated by the season. Our last postcard covered the times before Thanksgiving and Christmas with the message reading: “The holidays are near. Will you be ready?”

Now our winter postcard reads: “Escape winter’s chill. Keep your home an inviting retreat all winter long. January and February Savings Spectacular. Save 20% on residential services.”

Great comments guys. Keep them coming.

To answer a couple questions I received via email…

    1. Yes, the Postcard Marketing Package contains many postcards for new clients as well as repeat. So you can indeed use many of them to get new clients.

    2. If you are the winner and you already have purchased the postcard advertising program, you’ll have the option to choose any other Hitman package for FREE. So don’t put off giving me you postcard ideas and don’t put off purchasing because if you’ve already bought the postcard package, you could get one of my more expensive packages for FREE.

    Thanks,

    John aka Hitman

Here’s an email I got. He asked me to post it here on my blog.

    hi john,

I got a couple ideas here they are

Front of the postcard: gotta be kinda simple

Do you have any idea what lives in your Carpet ? ( Red Letters showing urgency) but keeping it simple

We Do call Us we can tell you all about it !

Call your professional carpet cleaners today

    at (555) 555-5555

    Second idea

Order a large roll of shamwozz material cut them into wash cloth sizes and have them screen printed or order a large ink stamp with company info ……….every time the customer uses the shamwow there looking at your company and your companys message………… and best thing super cheap……

Couple ideas but I have a trashbag full of ideas ……….need anymore?

    hope I win ……..

What about a postcard that made your company look like the high-end carpet cleaner in the city?

It could list all the things we do in the card and it could have a list of some of our well known clients. Maybe it could have a picture of a business woman on the card? Just an idea

My business card for the past 25 years says, “Get your carpets REALLY clean, or you don’t pay a penny” That’s the message, the rest is either “introduction or close” wording.

By the way, my name and contact information is down at the bottom. If they have read that far, they will consider me, especially because they received my card from a customer or from myself.

    Hi John,

I would go with the core message first. All carpet cleaners are known for their coupon and special offer which works great when we need work during slow cycles. But it should not become an habit. One thing that bothers me is that I don’t see a lot of changes in consumer mind about how they perceive us. I think the greatest campaign all carpet cleaners should have in 2011 is about how to choose the best and how carpet cleaner expert are no longer uneducated janitor cleaning floors. I would seek for a message about a company that believes in excellent service, importance of guarantee, knowledge of flooring and the different type of flooring available for consumers, who is a consultant expert and help consumer protecting their investment, and who you can ask question about flooring and, finally, who believes in training and certification. We are trying to get a message that brings the carpet cleaner to the 20th century… and who is no longer an uneducated janitor cleaner. Up to now, carpet cleaners are still their worse enemy!!!

May be we should also plan a great campaign to floor retailers and, may be, manufacturers… This is a message that we should get across and one of the greatest challenge of all American Carpet Care Consultants.

Merry Christmas and my best regards to you and your family.

    Sylvie

I would emphasize our certifications and our certified firms, by the our state of the art equipment and clean & organized trucks. That our technicians are all neatly uniformed. That we belong to trade associations, that we are licensed & insured , that we are a local cleaning company, and that we offer a 200% money back guarantee ,if for any reson you are unhappy with our work ,we will return and relaclean free of charge , if you’er still not happy , we will call another company to clean for you. I would also state that we only charge by the square foot and only charge for areas cleaned.

How bout a postcard with a great special? Offer free room of carpet cleaning on the postcard or free cleaning.

Postcards that get business. It doesn’t matter to me what kind of postcard or what that postcard has as long as it gets business.

it would be about the best possible service experience, it would list 6 reasons why they should use me in areas as references, experience, education, systems, a guarantee, and referral rewards, and it would offer 100 sq. feet of carpet cleaning at no charge, it would state that we would crawl over crushed glass to make them happy, possibly it would have a picture of my wife and I, and state that we are a local (20year) resident of the county

there’s alot to making a postcard i guess. Can you always say you’re the best on the postcard? that’s not enough. You need to set yourself apart and say more about what you do for the clients and give benefits.

If its directly after the New Year , how about the headline

    “Shed those unwanted pounds”

followed by a picture of an area rug with the line

Did you know that each square foot of your rug can hold up to 8 punds of dry soil?

    Great idea for brainstorming John!

Great. Keep the ideas coming. The best postcard idea will get either a FREE postcard package or (if you already have bought the postcard package), any ONE of my ad packages FREE.

So make your comment. Remember, I’m looking for something fresh, unique, and something that sells cleaning!

The more you send quality rich content postcards to your prospects, the better your relationship will be. The stronger your relationship, the more likely they will buy from you. People only buy from someone they know and trust. So increase your postcard mailing frequency.

Also *Never Sell during Postcard Advertising*
and *Sell curiosity, while the website sells the product. Simple.

Mike, I agree 100% with using postcards to develop trust and relationship. But I do strongly feel postcards should be used to sell. Always have some type of offer in your postcard to get sales.
